Thousands of hotel beds unsold as Olympic countdown begins: "But winter sports fans have been warned that the security effort will mean they can expect to shiver for hours in sub-zero temperatures as they queue to be searched and will only be able to take in two events in any one day. Organisers estimate it will take three to four hours to get between events in the city, and longer to go to sports such as the downhill skiing which are taking place out of town."
