This weekend, my friend James...

This weekend, my friend James Ogden and I built the water rocket to beat all water rockets. No pictures of a launch yet because of problems with an air pump and the end of daylight.

How it works:

  • Rocket is first filled partially with water.
  • Rocket slides tightly onto a piece of PVC pipe.
  • A special grasping mechanism locks the rocket into place.
  • An air pump is used to compress the air in the rocket to about 60psi.
  • A string is pulled, releasing the grasping mechanism.
  • The compressed air in the rocket forces the water out the rocket nozzle.
  • The rocket blasts itself hundreds of feet into the sky.
Note: This is NOT the same technique used by NASA. ;)
