Oxygen helps wounds heal: "Exposing wounds to pure oxygen can help them to heal more quickly, according to doctors. Researchers in the United States have found that applying bags of pure oxygen onto the skin can help even the worst wounds to heal."

The Present (QT 12.37 megs): "Joe Pestana is really interested in what you think about his movie so check out the movie (requires Quicktime) and then send him some feedback." via Loyd. Joe's not just a budding filmaker, but the best 3D modeler I've ever had the pleasure of working with. If you ever need a cutaway, let him know.

You mean I almost fell in the river for nothing?! Loyd: "GPS units with map capabilities have the ability to move the cursor away from a Waypoint on a certain bearing and an certain distance. Like a heading of 105° and a distance of 0.37 miles from N37° 37.448 W120° 57.464 is N37°0 37.406 W120° 57.229. I will now concede that I am an idiot."

Purdue researchers discover basis for biological clock: "The biological clock timekeeper for virtually every activity within living things, from sleep patterns to respiration is a single protein, Purdue University researchers report. The husband and wife team of D. James and Dorothy Morré has discovered this protein, which is responsible for setting the length of periods of activity and inactivity within cells. If the protein is altered, an organism's body will experience "days" of different length ranging from 22 to 42 hours in length in some cases. The discovery could have far-reaching implications for medicine. "

Norwegian Parliamentarian caught gaming during session: "Trond Helleland of the Norwegian Conservative Party and a member of Norway's Parliament was caught playing a war game on his Ipaq hand-held computer, right during the middle of Wednesday's parliamentary debate on Iraq. Tabloid VG has the picture (close-up), and reports that the game is Metalion from Ziosoft. Who said Norwegian politicians were all doves? In the virtual year of 2252, they're laser-firing hawks!"

Joe Jennet: "...but, when I see identical posts (verbatim) on two different weblogs, posted within an hour of each other and neither citing its source, I think to myself 'one of these guys is a plagiarist.' Sometimes, I even wonder if they're both plagiarists. Then again, who cares? I'm probably just being a skeptical s.o.b. anyway. Silly me!" Loyd asked me to respond to this. Joe - as I'm always seeing 'my' posts all over the place, let me set your mind at ease. I blog in what Mark Pilgrim classifies as the cite-link-quote style. Its not a very difficult style to use. When I find an interesting article that I think others may get a kick out of I grab the article title, make it a link, insert a colon, then a double quote, a paragraph from the story (usually the first or second) and finally another double quote. Easy. Originally, I was copying Dave Winer's style but lots of people use it. I have to assume that other people probably read some of the same sources I read. Since my style of blogging is in no way unique, isn't it usually simply a coincidence that I can find exact copies of my posts floating around.

An Interview About the Armed Swiss: "In Switzerland, the only 'gun control' law was that every man must shoot accurately at 300 meters. Had they attacked, the Nazis would have needed no gun registration records they could have assumed that every man had a gun."

Attack Is a Matter of...

Attack Is a Matter of Vulnerability: "In ancient times skillful warriors first made themselves invincible, and then watched for vulnerability in their opponents. Invincibility is in oneself, vulnerability is in the opponent. Therefore skillful warriors are able to be invincible, but they cannot cause opponents to be vulnerable. Invincibility is a matter of defense, vulnerability is a matter of attack."

Stephen's Guide to the Logical Fallacies: "The point of an argument is to give reasons in support of some conclusion. An argument commits a fallacy when the reasons offered do not, in fact, support the conclusion. "
